Things to do in Tampere start at the Tammerkoski rapids, the reason the city exists. Add a museum, a walk on the Pyynikki ridge and a lakeside sauna, and you have a very Tampere day.
Tammerkoski and the old factories
Tampere grew as an industrial city along the rapids. Walking paths follow the water, and former red-brick factories such as the Finlayson area now house museums, restaurants and a cinema.
