A visitor's Rovaniemi and a local's Rovaniemi can be two different towns. The difference is rarely price or location — it is timing: when you go out, and whose rhythm you follow.
Let the season set the day
In winter daylight is short and valuable, so keep the outdoor part around midday and the social part for the evening. In summer the logic flips and the evening simply keeps going. Neither is worth fighting.
Ask locals, don't only book
Packaged programmes work, but they tend to move people through the same places at the same hour. One question to someone who lives here — what time is worth coming, what do people do in this weather — changes a day more than any extra booking.
